Simon Hubig opened the Simon Hubig Baking Company at age 30. It was said to have had the greatest output of all bakeries in the United States. He sold this company in 1912. Hubig Established the Simon Hubig Company. This company grew into a chain with bakeries in several cities in Texas as well as the New Orleans location. The New Orleans location of the Simon Hubig Company opened in 1921 at 2417 Dauphine St., New Orleans, Louisiana. In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. The city and surrounding areas suffered major infrastructure destruction and loss of life. The Hubig's factory was damaged. January 9, 2006, Hubig's reopened after repairing damage from Hurricane Katrina. In July of 2012, the bakery at 2417 Dauphine St. burned down. The bakery remained closed until November 7, 2022. Hubig’s reopens at new facility in New Orleans, LA, led by the 3rd generation of the Ramsey family to own and operate Hubig’s.
